We are excited to introduce new workshops at the farm to learn and share about old traditions and methods with our community. Our classes will cover a wide range of topics from homesteading skills, herbal medicine, butchering and much more!
The dream of a simpler, natural life speaks to a deep place in all of us. Modern day homesteading is both an embrace of the past and a revolutionary act for the future. We look forward to sharing our journey with you.
All workshops are temporarily on hold due to the Coronavirus. We will continue to work to keep our community safe! Blessing to all!
May 9th - Dandelions are a prized wild edible — all parts are edible and contain a variety of medicinal benefits. You will learn how to make and enjoy this amazing plant in a refreshing cold tea, tender green salad, infused vinegar, robust coffee and a Dandelion tincture. We'll discuss the rich medicinal history while you enjoy samples and learn each recipe. We will start our afternoon foraging for untreated dandelions at Grape Lakes Farm & Vineyard.
June 13 - Kefir is a cultured, fermented beverage that tastes a great deal like a yogurt drink. It's made using “starter” grains. In this class you will see each stage of making a Kefir drink, flavoured second fermented drink, infused cream cheese and a surprising way to use Kefir Whey. You will enjoy samples of each and will go home with your own jar to start your own Kefir adventure. We will talk about right turning bacteria verses left, how do purchased probiotics compare to homemade, Yogurt verses Kefir and troubleshooting.
July 11th - Grab a friend or family member for this hands on workshop. You will make and go home with your own Bees Wax Wrap. Once you start using your wrap instead of plastic cling wrap, you will want to make more! Fantastic for cheese, sandwiches, veggies and so much more! A Natural Honey Lip Balm. I love knowing that these few simply natural ingredients will nurture and not dry your lips.
September 19th - Once you make this, you will never go back to buying Organic Apple Cider Vinegar again! The flavour will knock your socks off!
